Urban Ocean Lab Releases Climate Readiness Framework for Coastal Cities

READ THE FRAMEWORK

As climate impacts like hurricanes, sea level rise, and extreme rainfall intensify across the U.S., so do the risks to communities, ecosystems, and economies in coastal cities. Fortunately, there are solutions.

To help coastal cities address the breadth of work needed to secure a more climate-ready future, Urban Ocean Lab has published a Climate Readiness Framework for Coastal Cities with over 70 recommended actions spanning five key themes:

  • Coastal Ecosystems

  • Offshore Renewable Energy

  • Infrastructure

  • Community Resilience

  • Climate-Driven Relocation

If acted upon, these recommendations will enable coastal cities better adapt to and manage climate risks; create good, green jobs and a trained workforce; build healthier and more equitable communities; and safeguard the lives of their more than 65 million residents
